Pioneer Nine Patch

If I had known a new camera would lead to photos like these, I would have given one to our son William a lot sooner!

Chech out the great pictures he took without even leaving our neighborhood.

William found a clever backdrop at a nearby cornfield.

I'll settle for shadows if he's willing to climb trees to get the shot!

Direct sunlight won't bother me so long as the full quilt is in frame.

I made this Nine Patch in the early 1990's from 9" blocks, swapped with friends. The Streak of Lightening border adds extra interest.

I'll probably drive Will crazy with my requests for photos these next few weeks, but he knows how much I appreciate his efforts. I'm sure gonna miss him when he heads off to college!

  2. Your quilt looks great hanging from that tree.
I have only seen one orange butterfly so far and it was moving too fast to identify.

  3. Diane,

I love your quilt and the setting, the tree, is wonderful. It sets the tone for the timelessness of the Nine Patch. I have to say that border really REALLY works, too!

    What a neat butterfly.

Do let Will know we appreciate his every effort. He takes the biscuit (as they say)... and we still don't know who *they* are but we do agree with some things *they* say.

  8. Will has done a terrific job photographing this quilt and even though he didn't get up early enough to catch the best light for optimally showing the quilting pattern/stitches i can still see that it's breathtaking work~!!~ happens to be one of my favorite patterns as well (it's a classic~!).

the butterfly shot is equally inspiring and i'm so glad i was able to come for a visit today~!~

  10. The quilts and photos are absolutely lovely. I can't sew a stitch, I'm afraid, I suppose I could if I took the time to learn how. I'm a woman of a certain age myself and there's that old dog/new tricks thing to consider but phooey. Old dogs learn new tricks all the time; they're maybe just a little more picky (persnickety!) about what they choose to focus their energy on. Good luck with your work, it's quite delightful.
