Hi everyone. Hope you had a great summer! I took the opportunity to pull out an old project and get help finishing it up. It's a small quilt that features a charming embroidered strawberry. Perhaps you remember it from here.
To create a retro look, I used calicos, polkadots, and gingham checks, all popular during the 1930s-40s.
My friend, Ruth, was so smitten with the quilt, she offered to finish it for me! How could I refuse?
Just look at her tiny stitches. Can you see how the perle cotton subtly catches the light?
For even more nostalgia, I added strawberries to the back as well
Turns out, a quilt was the perfect way to preserve that vintage berry. Thank you to Vicki Haninger for her inspiration and to Ruth, of course, for seeing the project to fruition.
