Another Year Older

                                         23 February 2017

Dear Barb,

My birthday quilt arrived and I wish you could see the ear to ear grin on my face. What a happy piece of patchwork to open on a gray February day!

I just love these scrumptious pinks and blues sitting side by side like this.

The elegant bird toile on the back is a perfect foil for those quirky conversation prints on the front of the quilt. Baseball players and baby faces--So much fun!

Thanks for your beautiful birthday quilts, Barb. They always take the edge off turning another year older. 💕

Tickled Pink

Hi everyone! What's sweeter on a birthday than even the cake and ice cream? How about a pink and white confection like this one from my buddy Barb? It's the latest in a series of birthday quilts she's gifted me over the years.

I'm tickled pink with her Courthouse Steps Log Cabin. The arrangement of double pinks and shirting prints reminds me of pastries stacked in a French bakery window.

Barb must have had the same idea because look what she put on the back of the quilt -- a luscious toile depicting Parisienne advertising labels. Ooh la la!

That's not all... there were treats from other friends as well! Terri baked a tray of mini cupcakes that were moist, chocolatey, and way too easy to pop into our mouths whole. Linda's pink peppermint ice cream was a perfect accompaniment too!

Thank you dear friends. My birthday couldn't have been sweeter!

Inside Out

Here's my view inside today...

and this is outside!

With a new quilt project to ponder, I’m more than happy to stay indoors. It's a small, unfinished quilt top that I bought from Wanda Hanson.

Isn't the layout interesting? You seldom see log cabin blocks arranged with another block like this.

It would make a nice runner as is, but I'm thinking of adding a border. Any thoughts?
